With Aqa Moula’s (TUS) Dua Mubarak, the Edmonton Shabab-Ul-Eddiz-Zahabi was formed in 1424H – 2004 under the first secretary Mulla Mufaddal Shk. Burhan Badri, and first vice-president Mulla Zoher Karimjee.
Since then the Shabab has been performing khidmat in Edmonton as per the irshadaat of Aqa Moula (TUS) along with the assistance from Anjuman-e-Saifee (Edmonton, AB). The Shabab is playing a key role in developing the Dawoodi Bohra community in Edmonton, and side activities are steadily increasing with the strong commitment and dedication of our members. A few of the activities performed by the Shabab are the Eid-ul-Fitr Fajr breakfast, the Taabudaat Amal Darees, and the various other Darees throughout the year.
We also take pride in organizing fun, social, community-building activities such as the Burhani Sports Festival which is an initiative to unite all the Jamaats across Canada via the medium of sports.
The word ‘khidmat’, when translated literally, means ‘service not governed by reward’. What matters is that people experience the inclination to do khidmat and help out the community and to spread the word of our Aqa Moula (TUS). The word ‘shabab’, when translated literally, means ‘youth’. However, the concept of youth is not in age, but the youthful nature that everyone has within themselves.
